It is believed that both Hindus and Muslims claimed the body to perform the funeral rites. To their utter surprise, Kabir Das stood up and asked them to lift his body and view beneath. Lying there was nothing but a beautiful array of flowers. The word raksha signifies protection, and bandhan is an association signifying an enduring sort of bond; and so, when a woman ties a rakhi around the waist of her brother, she signifies her loving attachment to him. Sikhisme : Guru Nanak Dev (Punjabi: ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ, Hindi: गुरु नानक, Guru Nānak) (* 15. April 1469 in Talwandi, heute Nankana Sahib bei Lahore; † 1539) ist ein Heiliger und Religionsstifter des Sikhismus. Nanak wurde in dem Dorf Talwandi, dem heutigen Nankana Sahib in Pakistan, geboren. Seine Eltern waren Hindus, und er gehörte einer Händlerkaste an. Schon als Junge war er fasziniert von Religion, und sein Drang, die Geheimnisse des Lebens zu erforschen, brachte ihn dazu, sein Elternhaus zu verlassen und auf Wanderschaft durch weite Teile Nordwest-Indiens zu gehen. Nanak lehnte bereits in jungen Jahren strikt das Konzept des Hinduismus ab. Er soll eine göttliche Stimme gehört haben, die ihm befahl, Glauben an einen Gott, Barmherzigkeit, Reinheit, Andacht und Dienen zu lehren. Nanak sah sich selbst als Schüler Gottes. Er betont in seinen Schriften (festgehalten im Sri Guru Granth Sahib) immer wieder, dass er ausschließlich ein Diener und Schüler Gottes sei.
